Vacation 2012
We took our first familiy vacation (granted it was along with my family) this summer. We had a blast. Thought I would share some of the beautiful pictures of the Gulf Shores, Alabama beach.
We also went to go see the Blue Angels practice in Pensacola, Florida. They are simply amazing!
We had a great vacation! Thanks to my parents for a wonderful week!

Travel Bags
My children don't always travel well in the car. So I did some research and found some ideas for various travel games the kids could play in the car. What resulted were travel bags for the kids that they keep in the car. We included coloring books, pencils, notebooks, legos, fish puzzle with fishing pole, barrel of monkeys, etc.
We spent one evening making I Spy bottles. These are great. We put rice in 20 oz soda bottles and added various small objects. The kids turn the bottles around and around and name what they see. I have a checklist and check off what they find.
We had a great time making the I Spy bottles. The whole family got involved looking for items to add to their bottle. Here's what ours had:
Bobby pin, safety pin, rubber band, piece of straw, black-eyed pea, monopoly piece, rock, marble, earring, ring, pencil eraser topper, penny, dime, screw, and a barbie shoe (just to give you an idea). We have more items in there than that. But I was so amazed at how much fun these were to make! :)

I am finally going to post pictures of my labor of love.
I crocheted this blanket, which turned out to be much bigger than I had previously anticipated. But it turned out to be a good thing. It is big enough for our queen size bed and I love it! Everyone in our family loves it. This is my memory blanket. It reminds me to remember those who have taught me skills and lessons, who have shared their talents and time with me. It reminds me that I can do anything I set my mind to, even when I doubt myself.
My great aunt taught me to crochet. She passed away in May of 2010 and I finished this blanket in April 2011. I hope that I would have made her proud. Many people have told me that I she definitely would have bene proud. I certainly hope so.

My Labor of Love is almost done!
I have been working on a project that I started last year. (Due to me "stopping and starting," it has taken me this long to finish it.) I hope to finish it tonight and post it tomorrow. I am super excited that the end is near! YAY!!! Til tomorrow....

I am sorry to say that my camera is broken (and has been for a couple of months now). I am hoping to get a new one for Christmas and start taking pictures of the bows I made and the towels I monogrammed! Until then, please read my sister-in-law's blog: A Craft a Day. Super easy and cute crafts!
